Begin at the boundary
Look at gates, fencing, garage access and fallen branches before entering. Do not approach unstable trees, damaged electrical equipment or visibly unsafe structures. Those concerns belong with emergency or specialist services.
Observe the exterior from safe ground
Check shutters, visible roof areas, terraces, balconies, drainage points and outdoor furniture. Wind-driven rain may show through new marks around doors, windows or ceilings.
Inspect inside for change
Look for water staining, damp patches, debris near openings, power interruption and unusual smells. Compare with previous photographs so established marks are not confused with new storm damage.
Report before arranging work
Send photographs, location and priority to the owner. If immediate specialist action is sensible, follow the agreed authorisation process.
