The terms home watch and property management are often used interchangeably, but they can describe very different priorities.
Rental management follows the guest journey
Holiday rental management usually includes listing a property, setting rates, handling bookings, communicating with guests, organising changeovers and responding during stays. Its commercial focus is occupancy and guest experience.
Home watch follows the property
Home watch is organised around the condition of an unoccupied or intermittently occupied home. A scheduled visit looks for visible signs of leaks, moisture, access problems, storm damage, electrical interruption and other changes. The owner then receives a record of what was found.
This is particularly useful when a property is primarily for private use, sits empty for weeks or months, or already has separate gardening, pool and cleaning providers.
Where property care fits
Property care combines structured home watch inspections with practical coordination. If a leak is visible, the role is to notify the owner and help arrange a suitable plumber — not to imply that the inspector is the plumber. If a pool looks unusually low, the pool professional can be contacted.
Traditional property management often focuses on guests and bookings. Guardemar focuses on the property itself. That does not make one service universally better; it helps owners choose the service that matches how they use the home.
